Celebrating Rosh Hashanah with Jenny Blanc Interiors

Jenny Blanc Blog - An Intimate Rosh Hashanah Table Setting

Above: Image from ‘How to set an intimate Rosh Hashanah table’ by Chai & Home.

Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish New Year, a holy festival celebrating the creation of the world. In 2018 Rosh Hashanah will begin in the evening of Sunday 9th September and end in the evening of Tuesday 11th September. Traditionally the festival is celebrated with a special family meal where apple slices dipped in honey are served alongside plenty of sweet treats. The Michael Aram Pomegranate Collection takes its inspiration from one of the most universal and ancient symbols in the world, making it a beautiful addition to your table. The fruit of the Pomegranate has been prized across the globe, across cultures and across time as a representation of life, rebirth, and renewal as well as fertility and union.

“I grew up around pomegranates – from their use as natural dyes on the antique rugs I used to crawl on as a baby to an integral ingredient in the food that I love. When I’m at my home in New Delhi, I wake each morning to the taste of fresh squeezed pomegranate juice. The colour, the smell, the delicate flavour all make it feel like a magical elixir to me.” Michael Aram

At Jenny Blanc Interiors we are proud to offer a special selection of products from the Michael Aram Pomegranate collection, perfect for gifting to loved ones at Rosh Hashanah or any time of year. These new additions to our London Showroom are available in-store or online via Trouva with worldwide shipping available.

Jenny Blanc Blog - Selection of Pomegranate Tableware

The Pomegranate Mini Pot with Spoon by Michael Aram (pictured below, centre) is a beautifully symbolic design which also serves a practical purpose – the gold-tone nickelplate lid lifts to reveal an enamel interior in a rich shade of brown which can be filled with honey, sugar or other condiments to enhance your table and create a memorable experience for your guests.

Jenny Blanc Blog - Pomegranate Tableware

The Pomegranate Plate by Michael Aram (pictured above, top left) perfectly captures the shape and texture of the inside of a pomegranate and is the perfect accompaniment to the mini pot with spoon. Handcrafted in goldtone, it makes an elegant addition to your table where it can be used to serve nibbles or as a decorative accent around the home.

The Pomegranate Catch All (pictured below) is artfully handcrafted using natural bronze. The dish undergoes a series of grinding, buffing and polishing techniques meaning each creation is unique – a work of art in its own right. The design mirrors a sliced pomegranate complete with stem and leaf and is a beautiful addition to any bedroom or bathroom where it will keep rings and other trinkets safe.

Jenny Blanc Visit to London Design Week 2017

Jenny Blanc Blog - Jenny at Summer

Jenny Blanc

This week Jenny managed to escape to London Design Week at the Chelsea Design Centre.

The show runs from 12 – 17th March and showcases the latest fabrics, furniture, lighting and much more from the best craftsmen and design houses the UK has to offer.

Below are some of Jenny’s personal picks from this year’s show.

Jenny was inspired by the new Pop-up from Turnell & Gigon in collaboration with Soho Home. They created a stunning bedroom complete with an Evelyn four poster bed and bathroom using an eclectic mix of print, silk, semi sheer and velvet fabrics.

Jenny Blanc Blog - London Design Week 2017 - Art-board 1Cecelia is a simple toile that depicts a blissful and serene scene. Printed on a natural linen in a variety of stunning colourways taken from the Jean Monro palette.

As we continue into spring through to summer many collections are reflecting the colours of the seasons. Jenny was drawn to the velvets by Pierre Frey which are available in a fabulous selection of vibrant colours to complement any scheme.

This perfect little lamp from Porta Romana (above) is ideal to brighten any space, available in different colours.

Jenny loved this new range of wallpapers celebrating African traditions and culture which has been created in collaboration between Cole & Son and Ardmore Ceramics.

Broadway to Barbados

Jenny Blanc Blog - Broadway to BarbadosWhen you think of Barbados, you may see (think of) miles of golden beaches, the clear blue sea or maybe the native green monkeys. I doubt you would think of Broadway musicals and yet the glitz and glamour of Broadway has arrived in Barbados!

We are delighted to have been able to support our good friend and client, Mr Robert Bourque with his charitable trust “Broadway to Barbados” over the past five years.  The trust brings over some of Broadway’s biggest stars from New York to take the guests through a musical journey of popular Broadway hits.

The trust was created to help buy vital equipment for Barbados’ main hospital, The Queen Elizabeth, which services not only Barbados but provides emergency care for many of the surrounding islands.  When Mr Bourque approached us we were only too happy to support such a worthy cause. This year our Barbados showroom has donated some beautiful bespoke gifts to go into the event’s silent auction.  We will continue to support this wonderful initiative for as they say on Broadway, “The show must go on!”

Celebrating 50 Years of Independence!

Jenny Blanc Blog - Barbados Independence

Above right: Map of Barbados from Ins & Outs magazine 2016.

Wednesday 30th November 2016 marks 50 years of independence for the island of Barbados and Jenny Blanc are very pleased and proud to join in the celebrations at our design showroom on the West Coast of the island. Our windows have been transformed for the occasion with beautiful floral arrangements reflecting the colours of the Barbadian flag. Fabulous African head ties in fabrics specially designed for the occasion and accents of gold provide the finishing touch for this ‘golden’ Anniversary.

Jenny Blanc Blog - Barbados Showroom

The island will be alive with events and celebrations all week – the Jenny Blanc showroom will be closed on Wednesday 30th November reopening Thursday 1st December.

Jenny Blanc

Decorex is one of my favourite events in the autumn trade show calendar and one that I look forward to with much anticipation. It’s a wonderful opportunity to meet with some of my favourite designers and see their new collections first hand – nothing beats touching and feeling a product and as a designer, it’s very important to see fabrics, wallcoverings and furniture on a large scale. There were some stunning offerings this year from some of our longstanding suppliers including Baker & Gray, Tamerisk, Robert Langford and Heathfield & Co. but I was also surprised to discover so many exciting new brands – many of whom we will be welcoming to our West London and Barbados showrooms over the coming weeks!

Today I would like to share a few of the things that caught my eye this year. Below you’ll find stunning fabrics, contemporary lighting to spark the imagination and one or two exciting new products which are the perfect finishing touch to give your home a little lift this autumn and are coming soon to the UK showroom! I hope you enjoy – Jenny
